The Odia Society of Ireland (OSI) was established in 2015 to serve as a cultural anchor for the growing Odia community across the Republic of Ireland. We aim to build a platform where the rich heritage of Odisha meets the warm hospitality of Ireland.
From the tech hubs of Dublin and the historic streets of Cork to the vibrant shores of Galway, our members represent a diverse group of professionals, students, and families who call Ireland home.
To be the recognized voice of the Odia community in Ireland, promoting a positive image of Odisha through cultural exchange and social collaboration with the wider Irish society.
From the majestic rhythms of Odissi to the vibrant celebrations of Rath Yatra and Utkala Dibasa, we bring the soul of Odisha to Ireland. We host cultural evenings, food festivals, and traditional workshops to ensure our rich heritage thrives in the hearts of the diaspora and the next generation.
We believe in the power of connection. The Odia Society of Ireland provides a platform for families, professionals, and students to network, socialize, and build lasting friendships. Whether it’s a Raja picnic or a Kumar Purnimi gala, you are never alone in the Emerald Isle.
Moving to a new country can be challenging. We offer guidance to newcomers on housing, documentation (PPS/IRP), and career networking. Our mission is to provide a helping hand and a supportive voice to every Odia making their way in Ireland.
Inspired by the concepts of Sangathan (Unity), Sanskruti (Culture), and Seva (Service), our mission is built on four core objectives:
Cultural Preservation: We celebrate the vibrant festivals of Odisha—including Rath Yatra, Utkala Dibasa, Kumar Purnima and Raja—ensuring that our traditions remain alive for the next generation of Odia-Irish children.
Community Integration: We act as a support network for Odia people arriving in Ireland, helping them navigate life in the "Emerald Isle" and fostering a sense of belonging.
Youth & Education: We encourage our youth to engage with Odia language, dance (Odissi), and music, blending our ancestral roots with their Irish upbringing.
Charitable Outreach: We are committed to social responsibility, supporting charitable causes both within our local Irish communities and back home in Odisha.
The Odia Society of Ireland takes immense pride in its strong and collaborative relationship with the Embassy of India in Dublin. We work closely with the Embassy to represent the Odia diaspora at national-level Indian events and contribute to the vibrant multicultural fabric of Ireland.
Beyond the Embassy, we actively partner with other Indian regional societies and Irish community groups to host grand joint celebrations, fostering a spirit of "Unity in Diversity." Our commitment to promoting Odisha’s soft power extends to the silver screen and the stage; we take the initiative to bring Odia Cinema to Irish theaters and invite acclaimed artists and performers directly from Odisha. These exchanges ensure that our community remains connected to the evolving cultural heartbeat of our homeland while sharing the beauty of Odisha with our neighbors in Ireland.
"Bande Utkala Janani. Our society is more than just an organization; it is a family. Whether you have lived in Ireland for decades or have just arrived, the Odia Society of Ireland is your home away from home. We invite you to join us in building a legacy of unity and pride." - Sambit Misra
